The Red Cross is a volunteer based organization committed to saving lives. It is the largest Volunteer and Community Based Relief and Humanitarian Service Organization in the country with over 66,220 volunteers. The organization works to improve the lives of vulnerable people. The Red Cross dos not only provide relief services during disasters like the recent Ebola virus attack that hit parts of West Africa or the recent flood disaster in Ghana but works to improve humanitarian standards, as partners in development and in response to disasters. They also act before, during and after disasters and health emergencies to meet the needs and improve the lives of people.
However, the Red Cross is not well resourced to deal with Major threats and does not have funding to carry on its volunteering activities and outreach programs in areas that need the most support. The Millennium Marathon through its Charity program is driving attention to the Global need for voluntary humanitarian service by supporting the Red Cross.
By running for the Red Cross, you are saving the lives of those who need it the most.
